Testing Methodology

Test environments

Guides are reviewed on supported 64-bit Windows installations. Architecture-specific pages distinguish x64 and ARM64 rather than treating all 64-bit systems as interchangeable.

Baseline procedure

  1. Record Windows edition, build, architecture, GIMP version, and installation channel.
  2. Use a clean sample profile when diagnosing startup or plug-in behavior.
  3. Repeat editing steps on a copy of a sample file and retain an XCF master.
  4. Export and reopen the result to check dimensions, alpha, color, and visible artifacts.
  5. Compare version-sensitive claims with official documentation and release notes.

Limits

Hardware, drivers, plug-ins, tablets, and Windows security policies vary. A tested workflow is evidence for the documented configuration, not a guarantee for every PC.
